Angelina Jolie , by announcing her preventative double masectomy, will likely have significant influence well beyond women's health. By modeling how to think with data when data do not tell us what we would otherwise want them to say, she displayed a level of decision-making courage that business and political leaders should strive to emulate. For example, her leadership just may end up ...

The New Yorker is my favorite mainstream magazine. Week after week, its polished writing is a sign that maybe after all, civilization is not yet quite extinct. So when The New Yorker devotes the whole of its current issue to innovation, I should be very happy. But I'm not. That's because the entire issue hardly talks about innovation at ...

The Mummy [DVD]
If you're one of those who despises the idea of modern filmmakers remaking classics of the Hollywood Golden Age, don't be worried about The Mummy--outside of the title and the barest plot outline, it has little or nothing to do with the 1932 original. It's not so much "based on" as "vaguely inspired by." Writer/director Stephen Sommers dispenses with the deliberate, ominous pacing and ... ...

Ryan Fogle, the man Russia's security services claimed to have captured last week as he tried to recruit a Russian to spy for the US, left Moscow Sunday, a media report said.
Fogle checked in on a flight at Moscow's Sheremetyevo airport, NTV said.
The Russian foreign ministry had earlier declared Fogle, a third secretary at the US Embassy in Moscow, persona non grata for "activity incompatible with his diplomatic status". He was told to leave Russia by May 20.
The Russian Federal Security Service claimed last Tuesday to have detained Fogle while meeting a Russian security services officer, and offering him up to $1 million a year to spy for them.
US ambassador Michael McFaul was summoned to the foreign ministry Wednesday where Russia formally protested against Fogel's activities. He declined to comment to the media on the incident.
On Friday, a Russian intelligence agency publicly identified an individual it claimed was the Moscow station chief of the US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) as of late 2011, in a move widely seen as a breach of protocol in the intelligence community.
