WASHINGTON, DC / ACCESSWIRE / Octobere 6, 2019 / As of September 2019, Americans carry over $1 trillion in credit card debt and have paid over $119 Billion in credit card fees and interest so far this year alone. In fact, over 40 Million Americans are currently struggling with debt, living paycheck to paycheck. To address this issue, a new program has been started by Debt Council, a Christian-led organization, to help Americans eliminate as much debt as possible.
Debt Council is unique as they have developed a free 24-hour hotline (1-800-971-9899) that has an average wait time of just 2-3 minutes to speak to an agent. Americans with more than $10k of debt are eligible and get priority assistance. One drawback to be aware of is this program could be for a limited time only.
A Debt Council representative states, 'We wanted to provide a nationwide hotline for Americans who are in debt to finally get help resolving their debt for good. We provide a free, confidential helpline to help Americans end the annoying debt collector harassment and live a better life without debt.'
Since there is no definitive end date, it is recommended that people give the free helpline a call to see how they can benefit from the program. Those with credit card debt or a total of more than $10,000 worth of debt will get priority access to the program. There are no risks to calling, it is completely private and confidential, and it only takes a few minutes to get setup.
The US has been clear that it would like as many people as possible to lower the amount of debt they are carrying. Americans with lower debt and lower payments have more money to inject into the economy, therefore boosting consumer spending. Consumer spending is much more productive for a nation than carrying heavy debt payments, especially learning from the 2008 recession.
