Many of today's minority youth miss out on numerous opportunities. To bring hope and a better future to young people, a non-profit organization called A Better Chance for Youth Inc. is shining their light through youth education and empowerment.
A Better Chance for Youth is a group that was started by a community of educators. The most significant driving force has been their love for younger generations and the belief that access to education is one of the most powerful tools to shape their future. ABC Youth dives into an array of youth empowerment programs that helps students land college scholarships at minority-run institutions. They also provide educational support using data-driven models and resources to create a long-lasting difference in youth lives.
The goal of the organization is to affect positive change in the community. The overarching strategy starts with educating youth in the hopes that doing so will lead to long-term positive results. The main ways that A Better Chance for Youth Inc. fulfills their goal is through education consulting, test preparation consulting, community connections, and motivational speaking.
Educator Monique S. Robinson is the head and heart of the organization. She holds a bachelor of arts degree in psychology from Wilberforce University; she also has MEd in education leadership and an EdS in education leadership. She is also the 2009 recipient of the "Teacher of the Year" award for Imagine Schools at the district and regional level for her contributions to education.
Monique's most significant calling in life, she maintains, is to promote higher learning for all minority youth. Many of today's scholars in minority groups feel that college isn't an option for them. Through the programs at A Better Chance for Youth Inc., Monique and the team seek to make college a reality and a dream for youth in their area and hopefully beyond their local vicinities.
ABC Youth Inc. banks on the power of education to impact future generations. Their project actively raises awareness and funding from local businesses to create programs that will educate some of today's underprivileged and under-equipped students. The organization also challenges and uplifts beneficiaries of their programs through specialized tests, tutorials, and other resources to prepare them for assessments, challenging classes, and life situations.
Another of the programs by A Better Chance for Youth Inc. is developing support groups for minority families. The support community educates parents on scholarship opportunities for their children and minority-friendly schools where their children can freely pursue education. The organization also hopes to provide college tours and consultation services for families seeking scholarships and college shortly.
In all that the organization busies itself with, ABC Youth Inc. dreams of a day where their beneficiaries can pursue a college education. Studies show that securing a college diploma raises a person's chance of employment by leaps and bounds. With this in mind, education remains one of the best tools for the youth to build a better life for themselves. A Better Chance for Youth Inc. recognizes this reality and hopes to give more and more students a chance of a better life by equipping them through their educational programs. The group dreams of the day that they will have an array of past beneficiaries who have risen society's ranks and created a brighter future for themselves.
