NO! Music can never die. Especially not R&B. There will always be a need for Rhythm and Blues.
What drove you to pursue and create a career in the music industry?
I needed a way to stay out trouble lol, I was in trouble a lot when I was younger, and it served as an outlet for me. Music chooses you as an artist, you know what I mean, like R&B chose me. Rhythm and Blues Is how music wanted me to share my stories and other people's stories alike. So that's when you ask the question is R&B music dead, I simply said no music never dies, and definitely not R&B. there will always be someone with Rhythm and there will always be someone with the blues and so there will always be a need for music, especially R&B Music.
What's your process for getting ready to perform or go into the studio?
First and foremost, I have to make sure that my energy is balanced. If my energy is off it will affect how the song is delivered, whether I'm performing live or I'm getting ready to go into an eight-hour studio session. So the day of and even sometimes the day prior to a show or a studio session I'm just really careful of the energies that I choose to intermingle with, and of course I follow that with a few throat warming exercises, but for me it's mostly just about keeping my energy balanced.
Anyone that you want to collaborate with or are currently working with?
Missy Elliot, Missy Elliot, and yes one more time Missy Elliot! She had creatively inspired me my entire career and she continues to do so every day. She sings, raps, and produces so, to me that's the perfect person to collaborate with. On top of that, I admire everything she has done for women in the music industry, you know, making it okay and acceptable to be sexy but out of the norm sexy, so yeah Missy would be the one.
Any new music or projects coming up?
Yes, currently I have two singles that are out, "Stay" and "One Way Ride" produced by Weku Did That. I always say each new song are like newborn children, lol, those are my two new babies, so I'm going to spoil them by performing them everywhere, lol, and I have other music out as well streaming everywhere so pick your favorite streaming service, follow me on Instagram and twitter @renebonet and on facebook @officialrenebonet and let me know your favorite song.
