Modern problems require modern solutions. And XIVI is reinventing modern fashion to explore luxury clothing's role in addressing the intersection between social and environmental issues that plague the world today. The luxury loungewear pieces combine comfort, sustainable production, and accessible advocacy.
Only time will tell how much the COVID-19 pandemic has impacted the world. Quarantine has forced people to rethink the value and purpose of the home. Today, it has become an all-in-one environment for work, exercise, entertainment, study, and many more. Along with the home's transformation came the shift in preference and priority regarding fashion and style. With people spending their entire day at home, they started gravitating towards comfortable pieces that allowed them to fulfill their various responsibilities. XIVI plans to adapt to people's demand for luxuriously comfortable clothing designed with the new normal in mind.
Under the vision of creative director Taylor Rose, XIVI closely focuses on quality and attention to detail. Taylor launched the brand only recently, in November 2020. XIVI started with a group of limited-edition styles ranging from 20 to 30 pieces per color and size. The brand plans to continue using the concept of limited-edition collections each season to enable customers to experience exclusive products.
XIVI is also on a mission to nurture the environment using ethical practices. Since its launch, the brand has collaborated with partners to help focus on sustainability and contribute to cleaning up the fashion industry. The entire first collection, for example, used fabric made of eucalyptus leaves. This alternative material resulted in incredibly soft fabric that is also odor resistant, hypoallergenic, and anti-bacterial.
In addition to its use of sustainable materials, XIVI organized a recycling program to reduce the industry's environmental impact. Using XIVI's easy-to-follow, step-by-step guide, interested individuals can send used clothes back to the company. These partner companies will then forward the clothes to programs like Good360 and Career Gear to help young men in need of clothes. If engaging in a closed-loop recycling program was not enough incentive, customers also receive anywhere from $5 to $50 towards new products. The amount is determined by the amount and quality of used items sent.
As a young designer, Taylor Rose always wanted to design menswear. Before quarantine, she worked on the men's design team at Vince. Back then, she had too little time outside of her job and was unsure how she could start her own brand. Despite the challenges, Taylor recognized an opening to launch XIVI during the quarantine. She considers the lack of work and extended periods of free time as a rare opportunity to design her first collection.
XIVI clothing embodies comfort and versatility. The pieces are designed as loungewear with the right aesthetic, so customers can also wear it to run errands, go shopping, hike, brunch, and many more. XIVI is sold exclusively on the brand's website and in their new showroom in Walnut Creek, California. The showroom only accommodates appointments, but walk-ins are welcome when the store manager is available.
