Hair is known as the "crowning glory" not just because it is on top of your head but because it makes a lot of difference to how a person looks in public. People even believe that the condition and style of one's hair reflect the person's personality. That is why Shemika Jackson, CEO of Kafune Hair, decided to empower women by helping them with their hair problems.
It is a black girl and her painful story of losing and winning, long and short, curly and straight. Still, mostly, it is a story of beauty, acceptance, security, and confidence, just like the story of Shemika Jackson, CEO of Kafune Hair. Shemika began experiencing hair loss during her late 20s. After numerous trips to see specialists, injecting medicine through her arm, then eventually directly in her scalp and using every kind of shampoo and cream, she realized that this challenge is beyond her abilities but not her willpower. She suffered from the most common form of scarring alopecia, the central centrifugal cicatricial alopecia (CCCA). This particular alopecia destroys hair follicles because inflammatory cells attack hair follicle cells, which affects more Black women predominantly.
It was this experience that pushed Shemika to establish her fantastic company. Kafun Amor Hair Care was born. Shemika saw the need to empower women to feel confident, secure, and comfortable about themselves. She wanted to inspire Black women by letting them know that they don't have to look anywhere or to anyone to feel good, beautiful, and confident. The resilient CEO believes that all you have to do is look within and let what's within flow out.
Although it was an impossible challenge, it placed Shemika to understand cicatricial alopecia better. As a result, she started researching and developing a deep understanding of her future with this hair disease. She took on this formidable challenge and began to develop design options to mask her hair condition, knowing that her crown would never be the same. The experience gave Shemika a new path-to pursue the hair industry with drive, passion, and most importantly, purpose.
Kafun Amor Hair Care provides a complete product line for women who wear lace wigs from start to finish. They offer a multi-step system to help take care of their edges and reduce shedding on their lace wigs. They also offer multiple conceal products that will help match women with different complexions to help reduce the sight of the lace. In addition, they have multiple lace wig holding products for women who want the quick installation of one day and women who want a wig secured on for 2-3 weeks. One of their unique services will allow women to remove the wig in less time with the right product, allowing them to enjoy doing other things.
Kafun Amor Hair Care appeals to women by offering genuine, personal and first-hand experience-based knowledge and information. Shemika and her team look ahead and see their products and services are available in multiple stores and salons. They are looking forward to expanding their product line to cover lace wig hair care and individual hair care. One of their values is taking care of their natural hair. Eventually, they want to offer help to individuals suffering from temporary and permanent hair loss.
"We have a special space for these women," says the strong-willed CEO.
